It happened to me 25 years ago. The manufacturer was of no help at all in my case.
Depending on the age of the oven, I would contact the manufacture, (if fairly new) or a repair shop to ask questions about this brand. It might be safer to just chuck it and buy a different brand.

We had our outer glass break on our oven just a few months ago - unfortunately the manufacturer had gone into administration and was not able to help. We contacted our buildings and contents insurer who tried to claim that it was wear and tear, we were just cooking a potato - like richard said stick to your guns on this one - after about 2 months of fighting they finally agreed that the exploding was not wear and tear and had to replace the whole oven due to the glass for this make not being made anymore.
I wish your mum the best of luck in getting it replaced - it can be a real struggle but stay strong and you will get the right outcome in the end.
Good luck

I had the outside glass shatter a couple of years ago.
Luckily the oven was less than a year old so the manufacturer replaced the glass for us without charge.
the glass is toughened which is why it went to so many pieces.
If your oven is past it's guarantee period then I don't think you will get anywhere with the manufacturer. If it is less than a year old, definately ring them (by the neck perhaps). If it is less than two years old, ring them and the retailer and ask, no harm there. Over two years, I think you would be wasting your time but again, no harm trying.

My outer door exploded. I tried contacting the manufacturer but my oven was out of warantee. They did offer to sell me another glass door. Since I posted the story on my blog I've had over 60 responses many from other people that have had the same thing happen. Scary really.

Contact the manufacturer, and see what they say. You should be able to get a replacement window from an appliance parts place. good luck

i remember my mothers oven did that once,if i recall the manufacture tried to blame her for it (trust me she wasnt doing anything crazy with the damn.d oven she was baking cookies) if your firm with them on the phone they WILL replace it though, just stick to your guns and dont elaborate at all they will probably try and find some way to make it your fault.
