Sometimes the best stories start at the middle. Think of a good conflict. Start with a character, put them in a situation that is suspensful or dramatic and figure out how they react. You can go back to the beginning later to write about how they got into that situation.

For example:

girl in elevator. the elevator stops and another girl gets in. she recognizes her as the guy her last boyfriend dumped her for. she still has feelings of resentment...what does she do?
(it's got to be dramatic)

maybe she punches the girl. kicks her ***. leaves her unconscious in the elevator. realizes there are cameras videotaping her every move! (and all before they reach the bottom floor!) lol...
