It's pop in the Midwest. Soda in the South (or a Coke...even if it is NOT Coca-Cola)???

Too funny you ask. I grew up in Illinois and have lived in Texas for 16 years. Pop irks me now when I go home. That's stupid isn't it :)

Good question.

I am from the South, and down here it is all Coke, even if it is something else. The possible exception Dr. Pepper. Also we drink our iced tea sweet, and order it that way, as "sweet tea". We expect the server to sweeten it for us, not just bring us iced tea with a packet of sugar on the side.

Well, I'm from the south, and when I was younger, I would say,"Mom, I want a coke." And she would ask me what kind. Now, I just say which ever drink I want by name so there is no confusion. Other than that, people around here usually refer to soft drinks as a cold drink.
