Bricks are "masonry units" in a "block" form. You may be able to create different patterns depending on the way you lay them together with grout. The block by itself may have it's own different pattern/texture/color, but the form is still a "block".

Well, the most common 'shape' is the rectangle...but there is a product out now, called Nova Brik, which is actually tongue and grooved, like siding. And, it attaches to the structure without mortar, one piece overlapping the one below it, much like vinyl, or wood siding. There are some real advantages to using this type of exterior brick over the conventional, faster installation, no mortar, no 'ledge' is needed, etc. The company has many other pieces to match it also, corner pieces, trim, window perimeters, etc.

Just do a search for the name Nova Brik, to find the manufacturer, who can then lead you to a local company, or contractor.

Now... if by 'form' you meant what is the brick made out of.... a typical brick is made of fired clay, though I have heard of bricks using 'non-conventional' materials -- usually associated with someone experimenting with 'eco-housing', or what we would call today, 'earth friendly', using various recycled materials. The Nova Brik product is made out of cement, and you can get it in several colors.
