Have major surgery coming up in 3 weeks. Have to rest alot easy until surgery is done (I am dying of boredom). I love to read and am looking for some good books, problem is I have read most of them! I am in my 40's. I like romance (not too sappy), I've read Nicholas Sparks, loved Bridges of Madison County. I also love True Crime, have read all Anne Rules books, and I like true crime and mystery. Legal thrillers too. I have read Patterson, Grisham, Meltzer, Anne Rule, Sue Grafton, etc. I would like something funny that makes you laugh out loud. Loved the Devil Wears Prada. Can anyone think of a great book I have not read. I know, it's asking alot since I've ready so much . Not into Sci-Fi, History, Westerns. Thanks in advance! I am desperate because I can't find much that I haven' already read.

I like to read a lot, too, and I have read some books that make me laugh out loud. Here are a few of my favorites: Bingo by Rita Mae Brown, Choke and Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palaniuk, A Spot of Bother and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night by Mark Haddon. For more serious fare, try: Driving with Dead People by Monica Holloway, The Ice Queen by Alice Hoffman, The Ties that Binds by Kent Haruf and Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys. Since you like crime novels you might also enjoy Andrew Vachss's books starting with Belle.
Just a few suggestions. Hope your surgery goes well.

"A Tangled Web" and "The Blue Castle" by Lucy Maud Montgomery (Just get past the whole "Anne of Green Gables" thing and you'll find some interesting characters by this author)
"The Three Musketeers" by Alexandre Dumas turned out to be a real page-turner with a better ending than all of the movies combined.
"The Scarlet Pimpernel" by Baroness Orczy was a surprise.
"The Dog Who Wouldn't Be" by Farley Mowat still makes me laugh out loud, if you like dog stories.
"Bridget Jones' Diary" compares well to the movie.
The book "Under The Tuscan Sun" was waaaaay better than the movie.
I also recommend all of the kids' classics you may not have ever read. They might surprise you.

If you are looking for some great reading, romping stuff, and fun mysteries, try a D*i*c*k Francis novel (there are dozens of them). I am certain I have read most of them and I have enjoyed every single one! His protagonists are delightfully readable and engaging, the stories are terrific and time tested. For someone recoverying from surgery, I can think of no better antidote.

Elizabeth George also writes some fabulous mystery novels. All are set in Britain, are detective thrillers and are well written. Her early works are wonderful, her middle works got a bit bogged down in some weird stuff but were still enjoyable, and her latest novels are terrific.

Galapagos by using Kurt Vonnegut. in case you don't get the shaggy dog tale with regard to the college instructor, you have not any humorousness. just about something by using Vonnegut is downright hilarious, btw. he would be missed. And so it is going... And in case you opt for humorous action picture noir technology fiction, attempt William Gibson's Neuromancer. that's style of of a grind with the jargon, yet examine it for humor. To borrow from The Fugs: "... And even with those style of non secular condiments, he could desire to not get severe!"
