Cockroaches return to the battery operated transitor ratio and climb inside and congregate. I assume they are nesting. Why would they even be attracted to a radio and is there a successful method to deter them (other than professional chemical concoctions). Thanks!

Because it is a warm place. They live in any warm and moist place. They especially like the warmth of electrical appliances because of the heat it generates. Take your radio outside, open the back and leave it setting outside for awhile. They will move out to greener pastures. Since you don;t want to use chemicals on it, this is about all you can do.

The correct answer for this is: cockroaches are stimulated by electrical transmissions, telephones are another one. This is a scientific fact.

Look around the mouth pieces of the telephone, the T.V. receptor, radios, etc, you'll find them collecting around them.

Cockroaches are remarkably unfussy about their living accommodations; they will hang out most anywhere. Put a bit of bait inside the radio to give them indigestion.
