The nations with high income, or what the traditional economist call First World. My country the philippines isn't exactly a nation who can buy what it needs.

Ok, you got me! I'm still struggling with this! I'm trying not to envy. I'm trying to stop comparing myself to others. It's so unhealthy! I've done it all my life. I was a middle child and never felt like I got the attention. My sister was special because she was the oldest. I got her hand-me-downs. Nothing was ever my own, never new. My brothers were fussed over because they were the babies. I seemed to go unnoticed. I knocked myself out to be the best child (never got in trouble or did anything wrong like my wayward siblings, I was a straight A student etc) & still never felt appreciated. I always had to be the best. In track & field I could outrun anyone. I was always at the top of the class in high school & university & won several academic awards & medals but somehow never felt good enough.

Now I'm learning to like myself & realizing that I have worth as a person not because of what I do or what I have but just because of who I am. I'm a good person. But I still have weaknesses & one of them is comparing. I am still jealous of anyone that I perceive is better than me (which is obviously a lot of people!!!) in any way but particularly those who are more intelligent, more talented or more beautiful. I get jealous when someone is more successful. I feel envious when someone is a better singer or when a girl is prettier than me. I know it's silly. Life is not a contest. It's like I'm still the middle child competing for attention. It's self-destructive. I'm getting a little better at controlling it...a little. But yeah, it's hard not to envy Angelina Jolie!

The key is not to measure yourself against anyone else. To be happy with who you are. We are all different. We all have unique strengths & weaknesses. Happiness isn't being the best. You can be "the best" & still feel empty inside. Happiness is accepting & loving yourself just the way you are, no matter what. Then you don't need to compete. Life is not a contest.

I envy people who are at peace with themselves, truly genuine, and basically kind and good-hearted. I've known a few, it doesn't matter what their IQ is or the level of career success they have achieved or how big their house is and how many material possessions they have acquired, - they just seem to be secure and easy to be around. That's where I'd like to be.

I envy my younger sister. She is athletic, and knows how to study and learn. Somehow, although I got the same gpa as her, I never learned how to really learn. It's really set me back in college. I've also never been athletic in my life. She's just such an amazing woman, and I feel blessed that she's my sister.

I envy a lot of people. It's human nature to want what someone else has.

I envy small parts of alot of people. Some people are smarter, or make more money, or have wonderful children.
But the whole of my life, I love. I wouldn't trade my life for anyones.

I don't envy anyone because I know no matter how easy some people may seem to have it, they have their problems, too.
