Probably. You should at least call your doctor or the hospital to make sure, or to find out what you should be doing.

How do you know you're 4 1/2 dilated?

If I knew I was that dilated I'd be headed there myself.

I'm hoping my contractions get closer so I can go tonight. Been dilated at 2 now for days and hoping tonights pain isn't just another tease.

Good luck to you.

i assume your doc is the one who told you you were 4 1/2 dilated. if she/he didn't send you to the hospital, i wouldn't worry about it. if this is your first pregnancy you could stay at a 4 or 5 for a few days.

You should call your doctor and she what he/she says. Did your doctor tell you that you are 4 1/2 cm dilated? Are you having contractions? I recommend calling your doc and see, I'm sure it won't be long now though until you go in, good luck

If you are having contractions what are you still doing looking at the computer? Go have that baby!
If you are not having contractions they might not keep you at the hospital. However I hope for your sake the hospital is not too far away.
By the way congratulations on your new (or soon to be) arrival!

Is this your first baby? If so, you need to go in when you are having regular contractions [5 min from start of one to start of another] one hour, or your waters break, or you bleed like a period.
Call your doc if in doubt, call the office in AM if not an emergency.

I wouldnt worry about it. As long as your doctor knows and doesnt seem worried then I would just wait. My doctor told me not to go until: *I was having atleast 5 contractions an hour
*Contractions get so strong I cant walk or talk through them.
* My water breaks or starts leaking.
* Or I bleed heavy like a period

yes, even if you are not contracting you need to go! Your risk for waters breaking and infection gets higher the more you dilate.

If your in active labor wait just a bit more. No use in getting there to early. It will set you up for more interventions and possibly slow your labor down.
If your not in labor then why worry.

With my four labors when I get to 6-7 I still had 3 hours to go.
