yeah, I'd have to dedicate my life to searching for my fellow aliens!

No...
Even "without" alien wreckage...
My distrust of the federal government is as high as it gets already...
I just want someone to discover something that will make it so I don't have work anymore, but I would still have the "afterwork freedom" that a steady paycheck provides...(for the rest of my "immortal life" that the discovery of the alien wreckage would hopefully provide...)

It would be incredible. However, we still have to go to work, pay our bills, put food on the table, compete for resources, control crime, raise our kids, live our day-to-day lives. I don't even think it would really change society radically. People have a remarkable capacity to shape thier views of reality to fit their pre-conceived notions. The open minded would think it was cool, the religious would think it's demonic, the scientists would think it's ground breaking, etc. Unless and until some major technology was reversed engineered, or the alien civilization made their presence known directly and profoundly, not a whole lot would change I think.

Not really. I believe there are other beings "out there" anyway. But even if there was confirmed wreckage, there will always be those who won't be convinced. Look how many people are refuting the moon landings.

Not immediately. It would be like the space program. It would take time for the technological fallout to affect everyday life.

No because we'd probably never hear about it. It would be covered up by the "powers" that be.

no, I'd be pleasantly surprised (unless they attacked us) but existence of extraterrestrials shouldn't change your view of life.
