I developed these marks on the bottom of my tub about a year after I moved it. I've tried everything to get them off- Comet, scrub brush, bleach, all kinds of bathroom and soap scum cleaners, home remedies, everything! The marks seem to be dark (like soap scum) where the circles of the bottom of the tub are. I don't know if the person who lived here before me had a tub mat or not but they look kind of like rings from a mat. I live alone and am a younger woman and don't get extremely dirty to dirty up the tub and I've never had this problem anywhere else I've live. (Pls. see picture that attached to my profile, I know it;s kind of small, sorry!).

If you mean stain inside the tub? There are companies that do tub and sink resurfacing. I was at a Home and Garden show this weekend (since I have a stained old enamal iron tub) I asked one vendor for a ballpark amount and he told me little under $500. It is a process that takes a couple of days.
Results look beautiful.
If you use strong chemicals on your tub, be careful and make sure you flush well with clear cold water and get it past your house pipes. They corrode house pipes. More problems when that happens. This advice comes from my experience with leaks in the pipe caused by bleach I failed to flush completely out to the pipes under the street after I finished cleaning.

I think that sometimes really harsh cleaners take the smooth finish off of tubs, and then stains never come off. I had this happen where I had a lot of iron in my water, and I got grey stains that never came off after I started using harsh cleaners and the bottom of my tub felt rough. I think I ruined the finish. That may be what has happened.

you may try a razor blade (the kind with a safety side that protects you from getting cut). Put the razor at about 45 degree angle so you don't take up any of the tub material.
I use this method to remove soap scum from my tub & shower. If you are patient and careful, you won't scratch your tub.

use bowl cleaner that contains acid, most do. Don't let it get on the metal parts of the drain it will discolor them. Use a scrubby ( non metal) to help remove it and rinse very well. Don't breath in the fumes. It should only take seconds.

make a paste of cream of tartar and peroxide- then put in on the stains and let sit. not sure how long but you should be able to wipe it clean when it's ready. If you have to scrub too hard then it isn't the correct chemical.
