I really hope this is a desperate attempt at a joke. Being really close to the family its sad that someone will ask this question after the NTSB released it findings about the crash.
And to correct an earlier answer it has not been determined who misjudge the turn of the aircraft or who was in control of the plan. If you don't know the whole story you shouldn't answer.
Plus why do you think the Yankees are wearing the armband this year. GET A CLUE!
I keep coming back to this question to see what people are saying. I don't even think you have to be a Yankee fan to know the passing of Lidle. With the passing of Hancock just days ago it kind of reminds me of the moment I found out when they reported the plane that crashed was registered to Cory.
Apparently the people below don't read but it was never reported that he was in control of the plane when it crashed.
Again, I come back, I just shake my head at this question. I know Lidle was a little known name in the majors but it just seems like if you know the name you would know what happened. Plus with the release of the NTSB report today is just seem ironic that you would ask a question like this.

OK, you must have been living in a cave in October.
First Lidle was under contract only through the end of the 2006 season. More important, all around, is that Corey Lidle died in a small plane crash in October 11, 2006.

He crashed into a building last year. Hence the Opening Day ceremony for him and the black band on the Yankees uniforms.
