Due to the constraints of how it is designed it would be impossible for a human to be saved by that. Reasons being, it would invert from dissent due to lack of places for the air to pass. (all parachutes have several cuts and air flaps to allow air to pass through so as to not prevent the desired vertical dissent.) The surface area is too small, however I am sure you can find one of those over sized umbrellas that might work a little better, but over all, unless you are a small child it would not meet the necessary drag to area to weight ratio. Lastly, if you are jumping from 10 stories high, I highly doubt you would be able to hold onto the umbrella in the first place. You have to consider the several forces at work... Drag, possible air up draft, gravity... You factor all of those in (even if you take out the up draft which is unlikely on a 10 story building), it would be a great feat if you were able to even hold onto the umbrella if it didn't collapse break or invert. (why do you think skydivers, bungee jumpers, and base jumpers (note that technically that would be classified as a stupid base jump) all use harnesses instead of relying on their own strength to hold onto their method of slowing down (bungee cord or parachute)?)

If that fairly occurred, i wish the cat is high-quality! :/ particular, they could. they could have a broken leg, or in the event that they hit a tree a broken back, or they could grow to be paralyzed. it fairly is no longer a reliable project for them to crumple 10 thoughts. additionally, If it got here out of a tree, which would be even worse, grow to be it may hit different branches, plus be dehydrated, if it were caught interior the tree. So, particular a cat can stay to tell the tale, inspite of the undeniable fact that it may nonetheless be very painful. :( i wish I helped! :] EDIT: If it falls from a extra robust distance, it has extra time to splendid its landing. Cats have tiny hairs of their inner ears. It tells them whilst they are the different way up. They turn their heads to stand downward. whilst they try this, their backbone follows. (i think of a few thing is linked i'm no longer able to undergo in strategies). They whip their tails around to help them stay upright, then their padded ft help them land unhurt. (No i did no longer replica that off of a few web site.)

No. Use a parachute or the stairs. A good gust of wind will invert an umbrella.

NO...YOU CAN'NT DO IT
because span i.e. area of umbrella is too less..as compared to parachute
it will no give you sufficient drag...

parachute also have small holes for release of air during landing....

With two conditions:
1.) being purpose designed
2.) being fully opened from the beginning

You could, but I wouldn't recomend it. It won't produce enough drag to slow you down enough to prevent injury.
