Not by Walt Whitman, but is this what you are looking for?
Pablo Neruda - Sonnet XVII
I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
Or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
In secret, between the shadow and the soul.
I love you as the plant that never blooms but carries in
Itself the light of hidden flowers;
Thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
Risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
So I love you because I know no other way
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
So I love you because I know no other way
That this: where I does not exist, nor you,
So close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
So close that when you close your eyes, I fall asleep.

I think it may actually be Pablo Neruda (who was influenced tremendously by Whitman, btw)

It isnt by Whitman, that's why you can't find it. It's by Pablo Neruda. It was featured in the movie Patch Adams, beautifully read by Robin Williams. Pax - C

I dont know that one, but I know a different one. It's from 'Song Of Myself'
"I celebrate myself,
And what I assume you shall assume,
For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.
I loaf and invite my soul,
I lean and loaf at my ease...
observing a spear of summer grass.
I exist as I am, that is enough,
If no other in the world be aware I sit content.
One world is aware, and by far the largest to me,
and that is myself,
And wether I come to my own today
or in ten thousand or ten million years,
I can cheerfully take it now,
or with equal cheerfulness I can wait.'
I think its kinda confusing...
