At the end of May my friend was going to host a house warming party for me. She had no ideas for any games, I had only one Idea. We could get many keys and as people come we could pass them out on strings so they could wear them around there neck. If a person says house then they get to take the other persons key almost to the end of the party every one will have a chance to place the key in my door. If it fits then they get the prize of a 25 dollar gift card to walmart, but first they got to give up the key to get the gift. Any other game ideas? The party will mainly be out side since every one that I know have at least 2 or more children. -o- and do you know where I can find a bunch of keys for a cheap price? Thanks, if you can help!

I would suggest that you change your game from using a key, to a number. You can have the 'winning' number sealed in an envelope ahead of time. The 'necklace' could be a simple piece of yarn with a tag on it (you can get tags at an office supply store, or even tickets, like you would see at a carnival, or fair.)

One game you might try is the "host a mystery".... I think the actual game titles may be part of the "How to host a murder" series. Everyone plays a character, and they have to go around, checking the "evidence" and interrogating each other, to try to figure out "whodunnit", hehehehe. This particular type of game usually comes in a box, complete with character cards, tips, etc, for all the guests.

Don't forget games for the kids too! You might be able to hire a local 'baby sitter' to come over and run games for the kids for you, so you are not busy trying to cover everything. Simple crafts are another option to games for kids too. Practically anyone who works with kids on a regular basis will have all kinds of this stuff to work with, or books to reference.

There are also the tried and true board games, like Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Scattergories, and such.

Remember, don't serve alcohol to a designated driver, keep a 'clean-up' kit handy for the inevitable spills, and you may want to think about insect control, if you are going to be doing a lot of this outside. Mow the lawn a few days before the party, and/or use a bagger to remove the clippings.

Have Fun!

you can get keys at any hardware store for pretty cheap. or check with local antique stores. maybe you can focus on games for the kids to play so the parents can have time to relax and just enjoy the party? twister, catch, sports, tag, red rover, red light green light, etc. if you really want to do a game for the adults, the key one sounds ok. don't overschedule the party for the adults though - supply food, drinks, good music and places to sit and they'll be happy. you really dont need to get a gift card for the winner - something small like a bag of candy, a key ring, etc would be totally fine. why is your friend hosting a house warming party for you? A house warming party is supposed to be at your house... that's the whole point? to get people in to see the place, welcome them and you to your new home, etc.
