i used to be on the depo shot...i took my last one about 10 months ago. i have been trying to get pregnant since then and have had no luck. i know now that it takes anywhere from 3 months to 2 years to get pregnant after being on depo, and i also know that getting pregnant in general can also be pretty tricky...but id like to know if there is any way to increase my chances. some people say sex every day, some say every other day, and some more say only do it when you ovulate. i dont know what to do!!!!!!! i just cant wait to have a baby. im sure a lot of women can understand; it would drive me crazy to go through this for another year...hoping my period doesnt come every month. help!

Oh my gosh! I can totally relate! I'm currently trying to conceive our 2nd child. It's the last half of every cycle that I go nuts thinking 'is this the month'? Then I analyze every temperature dip and peak. Once my cycles started to regulate (I just weaned my toddler 2 months ago) I realized that my luteal phases are always 16 days. Thankfully, I've stopped stressing so much since I have to wait so long anyway to get my period. If you've not heard of it, look up the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. It can tell you if and when you ovulate every cycle, and will show if you're period it late due to delayed ovulation. It is SO nice. We can see when to start having sex with the buildup of fertile cervical fluid. So you don't have to wear your partner out with sex every day you're not bleeding! LOL Anyway, just wanted to pass it on. I've been there, but when you know your cycles down pat, it's easier not to stress. Try your local library for the book. It's empowering and will arm you with info about your cycle that can prevent painful/intrusive, and expensive testing if you ever go in for a fertility workup! Goodluck!

My husband and I found out last week that we are 6 weeks pregnant after trying for only the last month. As first time parents in our 30's there were so many myths, like it would be harder for us to conceive. So we had sex every day during my most fertile days. Right after sex, I would prop my hips up on a pillow for 30 minutes and aviod using the piddle palace for a while. I didn't take baths or use douches either during that time, all while already taking a great prenatal vitamin and praying ALOT. Now, we're pregnant.
But the best thing to do during all of this is just to have a good time with your husband and RELAX. So many women get themselves hyped up and their body can detect the stress.
Good luck and God Bless.

Hi,

i had a lot of problems getting pregnant, but I now have three helthy kids.
Conceiving is a bit of a lottery as you never know if you will be one of the one in six couples who end up needing help.
the best thing to do is to maximise your chances,
so make sure you eat healthily. If you are over weight then try and lose some. take exercise. Don't drink too much, and if you smoke then try and give up. all of these things affect fertility, both in you and your partner...so he should try all these things too.
you should also take folic acid, as this helps the egg to implant and lessens the risk of abnormal babies etc.

the times to try and have sex apart from when the mood takes you, is two to three days before ovulation, if you know the date, to about 5 days after.
They say if you have sex about three days before ovulation you are more likely to have a girl as the "girl2 sperm live longer than the male ones. sex later probably means more chance of a boy, the "male" sperm are faster and reach the egg quicker.
you could keep a temperature chart to figure out when ovulation is. You take your temperature every morning before getting out of bed. your temperature rises slightly just before ovulation, about a day before.
If you dont have luck this is often the first thing Drs suggest you do anyway, to keep records of ovulation.

I wish you loads of luck. Depending on your age a lot of Drs will give advice and or help after one year.
good luck!

Is your cycle normal? If your cycle runs every 28 days you should be releasing an egg about every 14-17 days. So whether or not you do it everyday, every other day. You can only get pregnant at the time of ovaluation. You can buy a Basil thermometer and track your temperature to know for sure when your ovulating. If you track your temp for a couple of cycles, you might know better when you need to do it because you will know when your eggs has dropped. Good luck and have fun!!

You can increase your odds by doing it before, during and after (just to be safe) ovulation. But you would have to know when you are actually ovulating. Good luck :)

Do you know that your chances of getting pregnant may be high if you know how to get your body fertile back. You just need to increase your sexual energy, not only you but your husband too.
