I love how they all think Fox news is so slanted one way and that the decades old lib media is..... what... balanced? What a joke! Just because Fox News ratings crush their little lib stations to a pulp on a nightly basis they now feel threatened. Have they EVER sat back and wondered why Fox News and Radio Talk shows do so well? Could it be because the majority of the public is tired of the biased opinions... not facts mind you... opinions of the lib media? That would be why they want the "fairness doctrine". That is code for affirmative action in freedom of speech.... "we can't compete in the arena of ideas... too many people listen to the radio and not to us anymore.... boo hoo... lets try and pass a bill that will hand us success rather than working for it... or stiffle the free speach of those we don't agree with". It would be laughable if it was not sooooo sad.

jimmy... I don't disagree that Fox is more so on the right side of things. I find it amazing that when a differing point of view is presented, the left will do everything they can to stiffle it... of course... no one really got the point, they can't see past their own brainwashed talking points.

I think Fox is much more balance that the other stations. The libs think it's so bad because it doesn't have the "normal" liberal bias so they seem to call it entertainment. That's ridiculous!

They probably don't like Lou Dobbs either. He's a straight shooter!!!

Oh Mr. Perfect, This Democrat can handle plenty of competition - you seem to have made a small error in once again assuming that everyone on this side of the aisle is using the same brain. Not true, my friend. It is true that I am not a big Fox News watcher - But I don't watch much news on TV except for local. I get most of my information from the Internet. Reading the news on line and getting the top headlines here also, I listen every day back and forth to work to talk radio - I'm in the car about 3 hours per day. I listen to liberal talk and conservative talk and some neo-con talk. I find it all very interesting. For some unknown reason, people seem unwilling to just say what they think about things they usually have to insult the other guys opinions. You certainly, have a right to think I can't handle competition but watch out - you might just have to admit that you not only did not win, but that you got beat by a girl!!!!!--k-

Only an American conservative could be naive enough to consider Fox News anything but Pravda for rednecks. Such ignorance does no credit to any other opinions you might express.

It seems to be a mantra for the Right and the Left both to accuse the media of bias when the facts of a story do not please them, but true bias only exists when the story is deliberately chosen and slanted in an unfair way. This certainly appears to happen on Fox daily.

I personally feel that no self respecting network would employ shrill propagandists like Rush Limbaugh. Unless equal time is given to Michael Moore, that demonstrates bias.

The fact is that both extremes have become a burden on the rest of us. The difference is that the conservatives have engaged us in an unwinnable war that is eerily similar to Viet Nam, and run the deficit to previously unheard of highs. Whatever it might cost to elect a presumably liberal Democrat, that price must be paid to end the conservative dominance.

This isn't about policy; this is about manners and respect. The GOP has become a nest of viscious snakes all trying to prove they have the most powerful venom. We want government by debate and compromise, and told the Republicans so in the last elections. They didn't listen.

What would annoy them more than anything else? President Clinton! If they don't clean up their partisan acts, that's what we'll give them, whatever she costs us. We have had enough.

I don't know that Fox News crushes Network News can't seem to find a head to head comparison. I think Fox Cable Shows are higher rated than other cable shows, but those are opinion shows not news shows, I doubt the FOX Sunday shows "crush" the Network Sunday News shows, got any data? Whatever a show's ratings are neither proves nor disproves they are biased. Talk Radio is obviously biased regardless of popularity and they aren't news shows they are opinion entertainment for the liked minded.

And the fairness doctrine wouldn't stifle free speech all your favorites would still be on the air nobody is saying take Rush off the air.

PS I would say they competition just crushed you, based on the quality of answers of right vs left here.

Not to point out the obvious, but you left out a word and thought here and there.

No one denies that FOX and conservative talk radio dominate in the arena of ‘stupid’ and ‘simpleminded’ ideas; or that they have hit upon an aggressive ‘let the truth be damned’ style that is highly appealing to intellectually lazy and poorly educated people who require reassurance that they are not as worthless as they feel they are.

It also allows them to feel they are part of a group, which they need to be secure since being independent and standing alone scares the hell out of them. That is the reason they rolled over faster than a two-dollar whore to give up the personal freedom and liberty granted all American citizens by the Constitution.

It would more ‘laughable’ and likely a miracle if you have ever had an original thought in your life. Otherwise, you would certainly have known, as did every person with any knowledge of the Middle East, that invading Iraq was a stupid idea doomed to failure.

In fact, the President’s own father detailed the reasons removing Saddam from power the way we did would fail and the harm it would do to America in his 1998 book ‘A World Transformed’. Since Bushbots don’t read much, I’ll tell you what George H. W. Bush had to say: 1.) America would become stuck in a quagmire from which it would be difficult to remove itself; 2.) America would lose it friends and allies; 3.) America would lose its position as a world leader and its ability to influence international political affairs (e.g., North Korea and Iran); and 4.) It would jeopardize America’s long-term interests and goals in the region, undoing all that had been accomplished by decades of hard work.

And Colin Powell told the President, “if you break it [Iraq], you own it”. Well, the Bush administration and its supporters broke it, and all the American and Iraqi blood spilled is on their hands. Now you want avoid taking responsibility and attempt to blame anyone and anything instead of admitting that the disaster was the result of your own ignorance, arrogance, cowardice, and prejudice.

The State Department report on terror due out next week states that terrorist attacks are up 29% and the number of deaths from terror attacks is up 40% over the year before. A recent report of the consensus opinion of 16 American government intelligence agencies concludes that America’s presence in Iraq has created more terrorists and made America and the world less safe than it was before 9/11.

Conservatives ask liberals for an Iraq plan, while they have never produced one of their own. The truth is that they are stuck in Iraq; they don’t know what they are doing; and they don’t know how to get out. From day one, Bush has short-changed the troops by under equipping them and under funding them. How many times has he said that he needs more money?

Now he wants to hold them hostage over a democratic economic package that includes a timetable for bringing the troops home, when everyone knows that Republicans will ensure that there will be at least a major reduction of US forces in Iraq before the next Presidential election in 2008 – because if there isn’t, they will lose the White House as well as Congress. It is a purely political decision, which is the only kind the current administration has ever made.

First of all, speech is spelled "speech"...

Now, as far as balanced, who in the world is going to listen to biased news reporting like Faux News. I remember when Foley (I believe you remember him) was caught doing what he was doing, they placed a (D) in front of his name, and no, it wasn't a mistake. O'reilly and Coulter on Faux? You think I would listen to their biased garbage?

Now, Republican radio stations do well because more Republicans listen to AM and talk stations. Another reason is Republican businesses are buying up a lot of stations (heard of Clearchannel?). Of course, with the stations you own, you will want your type of genre, which will be conservative talk. I listen to talk radio. Everytime I turned there was more and more conservative talk. The station I used to listen to was progressive talk. It was bought out, and of course, replaced with conservative talk.

As far as the "fairness doctrine", I never heard of it. If Congress is trying to pass it for the REASON YOU ARE SAYING, then it is wrong, but before I believe any, and I mean ANY CONSERVATIVE, I will need proof.

KBama - go baby go...

Although I feel all the regular broadcast stations are left slanted I also believe that fox news is slanted to the right. I do believe though that democrats of today are anti-competitive and anti-individual. For example anytime you hear the Democrats talk about the rich they refer to them as being "lucky" or " more fortunate." In other words they can't imagine that someone worked hard, made sacrifices and good decisions to suceed in their life.

I seem to remember Republicans stifling free speech by crying "un-American and traitor" among other words when anyone tried to speak against Bush and his oil war. One talk show host even lost his job over it. We threatened to bomb the countries who opposed the war. We paid the ones who went along with it. And it was and is an illegal war. Remember the United Nations voted against it. Saddam agreed to let the United Nations inspect his country and Bush said no. We went in guns blazing. Americans died. Iraqi women and children died. Soldiers died. Civilians died. Oh, but Bush and his war monger buddies have made untold billions of the so called "terrorists". People are waking up to their buzz word ward. People are getting sick of the cost in money and lives of Bush's war. Remember the last election? Just wait until the next one. Bush should be impeached.

Everyone with evein a pie-slice of brain knows that Fox (who gave us such cerebral wonders as "The Simpsons and Married with Children" is simply in it for shock value and entertainment value.

Nobody of even marginal intelligence takes it serious.

It's not about competition.

News agencies report news and Fox entertains.

That's fair and balanced enough for me.

If you read, which I doubt you that, you would know that Fox News has lost some numbers on its ratings. For example, Bill O Reilly lost a lot of viewers, and well I am surprised no one has sent him a douche bag in the mail yet. God, i feel so SORRY for you, you must have been beaten when you were young by your fag hating father. Well, enjoy FOX "NEWS" tonight!
