The Great Wall of China was originally made to keep out invading Mongols and invaders. Sort of like a man-made border. It required around a million workers. Most of them were just peasants, but were drafted by the Emperor to construct the wall. Many workers died from exhaustion and harsh conditions. Nevertheless, the Great Wall saw little success in keeping out invaders.

Today, the Great Wall of China does not mark territorial boundaries. Instead, it is a popular tourist site and a symbol for the rich history of China. Because the modern Northern Chinese border stretches past the Great Wall, if you visit the landmark, you will have the opportunity to walk along the wall and also beyond it to the other side.

Does it mar the border, or does it mark the border?
It's a rather lovely stone wall -- weathered stones, with lots of steps, and little stone fortifications at intervals that were used as lookouts. The stairs have been worn down by generations of footprints, so the stones in the center show a curve, rather than a straight line.

It does mark part of China's boundary line, but not all of it.

It's a little late to be thinking about that now, I think it's long since out of warranty.

Never really thought about it. Good question. I would go with yes at a guess.
