Maybe say that once a year, the colors all gather together in the fall for a final party before they sleep in winter...which is why the colors mix on the trees before the leaves fall and everything sleeps, and in spring they all meet up again to color the pale world?

And on some evenings Mother nature finds that the sky is dull and the evening long. Therefore She lifts a breeze from her apron an swirls all the colors into the sky so that the night may come in beauty and the colors, perhaps, be born anew the next morning.

Blue (of sky and sea), Green (of plants) and Brown (of earth) obviously won!

The rest were religated to the delicate petals of flowers, gemstones and the feathers of birds.

To complete your myth, you should invent a story as to why these three colours won the contest for dominance of the earth, and the rest, though prized for their beauty, wree religated to things so rare.

I think that sounds like it ends nicely...if you want the story to continue, consider how the colors may feel about how we appreciate them, or don't appreciate them, and what they might do about it.

it's a great concept. You can take it a lot of places.
