Why is jewellery important in any culture?

One possibility is the ostentatious display of wealth, but I think we are hardwired to like pretty things. Neanderthals probably did not have personal adornment. Modern man seems to have always had it.

simple answer. Jewelry is Shiny. people like Shiny things. people love to wear shiny things that are shaped of things
