I feel that life is very absurd. Should I let absurdity win? How can I beat absurdity?

According to Camus, you should acknowledge the absurdity as your opponent, but then live anyway and learn to laugh in its face. You do this by finding something to live for, art music, a cause. So what if the value in life isn't fixed and eternal. Go get your own.

I think he's got a point here.

It can feel pretty absurd, at times. But, oh well...

I have reflected that it is so odd how we 'appear' as tiny, red, wrinkled things, screaming our head off...and then...we are programmed bit by bit by our parents and society....and then we repeat what we have learned....all the do, don'ts, belief systems...all of it... and then, we asked questions like this one.

How many millions of people have wondered...why?

You do get to a point (with age) that you just, slow down, enjoy the pets, a good meal, comedy shows, interesting people, beautiful art, the new green leaves in the spring, the geese flying in and out...their new babies, frogs croaking, a new car, an old friend calling, marveling at the total mystery of life, realizing that you will NEVER know...why?

Absurdity has sort of won already because we are in the dark...like characters in a play...being lived.

You can beat absurdity by rising above it:

Think, and lead your life, rationally.
Always keep your eye on the Big Picture.
Don't let things stress you out; negative emotions seldom serve any useful purpose.
Keep and develop your sense of humor, and don't let it degrade into cynicism.
Never lose your sense of curiosity.

Yes, existence in these times can feel...less than optimal. (Read my profile to see what I mean.) But there's no reason that you need to let it drag you down. Strive to become more and better than you are now, and you should have little trouble dealing with the world around you.

Life does seem absurd at times these days. I don't want to get in to MY philosophy on why I feel that way. But I look at it like this. Do some crazy things! Go out and dance in the rain....swing on a swingset at the park in the moonlight....look at the world through the eyes of a child...and suddenly the world seems to be more "normal" whatever that is! GIVE YOURSELF UP TO THE ABSURDITY!!! (and ENJOY it)

Yes by all means let absurdity win. It always does. I mean no matter how hard you try to figure it all out it always comes back absurd. The only thing that matters in life that you can truly ascribe to that will never let you down in the righteousness of your quest to understand life, as we know it, is your character.

Absurdity can be beaten with logic and reason. Go take a few calculus classes.

Absurdity can be beaten by making it normal. Once you've done this, the normal will become absurd so you can regain your balance.

By absurbity, you mean that we all die, right? So why struggle and fight to get to the "top"? It is called a dynasty. We all seek to create a dynasty that wil exist 1000's of years into the future. We seldom succeed, but then, we are always trying.

I hope not. That leaves little to my faith in myself. To beat it? Hmmm...Try placing a paper bag over your head and placing it between your knees. The only options over faith in yourself is just silly but sometimes entertaining.
