By some of you saying the Yankees you must not have read the question.
The obvious answer is the Florida Marlins. They have had some of the worst attendance in the league since they came into the league as an expansion team in the early 90's. Not only that, but they're the only other team besides the yankees to have more then 1 world championship in the last 10 years. They're teams have been good and bad but the fans don't come regardless. Miami is a very big city and they still don't support there team. The Owner has been looking to relocate the team since they failed to get funding for a new stadium in Miami.
Before they moved the Montreal Expos would have taken the cake for this question. And some honorable mentions would be . . .Washington Nationals, Minnesota Twins, Colorado Rockies, Pittsburgh Pirates, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Brewers, and Toronto Blue Jays.

I go to Mariners games when I can, and the fans are good for their support level for the team, but are way too quiet much of the time. They also look at you like you're the Antichrist if you boo somebody--even if that guy is on the other team. It's like some think the ballpark is their living room.
Many are dumb about baseball, and seem to be there to eat or drink or shop or walk around continuously--anything but watching the game. Too many bring their kids who are too little to be there, too, and I hate that.
Are they the worst fans? I don't know, really, but they irritate me quite well.
The best fans are Yankee fans in Yankee Stadium. They are enthusiastic and civilized. Some of you humanoids (I'm talkin' to you, Chief Wahoo, with the racist logo) think because YOU hate a team, that that team's fans are the worst. Wishing doesn't make it so. If fact, why don't you humanoids wish in one hand and crap in the other, and see which hand gets fuller faster. Try that on, you geeks.

Just because someone doesn't go to a game doesn't necessarily mean that they don't support their team.
The worst fans in baseball are those who have no respect whatsoever for the other team or the fans of the other team. That's makes it a dead-even tie between tie Yankees and Red Sox fans.

Yankees definitely have passion but often don't support their team. Florida would have to be the worst though.

Phillies fans actually go to games to boo. Im totally serious. As a mets fan i see them play the phillies alot and the phillies fans there actually boo the phillies.
In the A.L. the worst fans are Yankees fans. I live in Manhattan i know many. THEY ARE ALL JUST FRONTRUNNERS! The only real yankees fans are the appx 200 people in the right field bleachers.

The Phillies fans ( all Phila fans ) take a bum rap.
They demand you perform up to the level you are capable of. If you are a .280 hitter, .277 is not good enough.
But if you are a .220 hitter with barely enough talent to be in the bigs, but you go out every day and bust your tail, the phiillies fans will worship you.

See i'm a baseball fan too, so I hate March. NBA is boring in March, I despise college basketball, baseball is only in spring training (not virtually as interesting as NFL preseason) and NFL offseason is drowned out through March insanity, which I detest. might want to and June are not great, yet they are extra efficient than March. a minimum of baseball and the NBA playoffs get me by.

I have to agree with specialJ. The Phillies fans have to be the worst because they are so negative all the time. They look for reasons to boo.
Honorable mention goes to Yankee fans who are spoiled front-runners. They actually booed Mariano Rivera during the 2005 season. These are definitely the most obnoxious fans in sports.
