YES ! That is the driving commodity in our modern world.

Nothing would be working without oil. Even electricity, because most of the power plants still need oil in their process. That's why now we have all those issues in the Middle East. That's why Uncle Sam bothers to go halfway across the world to secure the world's second largest oil reserve from the so-called tyran of Saddam Hussein. Oh, btw, the world's largest oil reserve, in the UAE and Saudi, have been comfortably secured by Uncle Sam.

There's even a nation in Latin America which forfeits its IMF and World Bank membership simply because that nation doesn't want foreign interference dwelling into the nation's enormous oil supply.

Oil is, afterall, a non-renewable natural resource, so if it's depleted, than it's gone forever. And today's oil supply just barely meets the demand of modern world. So, unless some clever scientist figure out a cheap renewable energy alternative, who ever control the most oil would practically control the world's economy.

If it was, Brainiac, why are gas prices higher than ever? You'd think that if it was about oil, we'd be pumping it by the boatload into tankers lined up like a taxi-stand to ship it here so WE could enjoy 25 cent/gallon gas.

Get your head out.

Hey, Yonas, Hussein is dead. You should have that rectal-cranial inversion of yours checked out.

Gosh, can you imagine how good our economy would be if it WAS about the oil and we only paid 1/12th of what we do now per gallon?!?! Travel would increase; cost of goods would stay flat or decrease; tourism would go up so the T&E industries would boom. Plus, instead of paying 140 to fill my 44 gallon tank, it would be $11. That extra $130/tank would equate to $500+/month that I could spend on cool stuff.

Prices will continue to rise if we do not increase our abilities to refine the oil. We could have tankers lined up fro a year. If we have limited capacity to refine the oil the quantity is not the issue. Blame the left wing schmoes for no refineries being built in over 20 years!!!

IT'S ALL ABOUT OIL!

On both sides of the U.S.-Iraq conflict there are people claiming that the war is all about the oil. The U.S. accuses France and Russia of only considering how war will affect their oil supply and economy. The international community accuses the U.S. of trying to get control of Iraq’s oil fields. The fact is, it is all about oil. Without oil Iraq could never have gained the money it has, and without that money there would be no threat of weapons of mass destruction. A country with little money to spend cannot afford to buy chemicals and supplies for arms production. The oil is what gives Hussein power to threaten the world.
