not at all. If it has a dvd drive it was designed to burn them. I guess the more important question is how many is a lot? Like all things that are geared more for the end user rather than the professional level it will wear out faster. If you are burning dvd's non stop for a month you might shorten the life of the actual dvd drive some, but that can be replaced. There is no danger to the actual laptop. It's hard to say how long a drive will last, but it should last for a long time.

Depends on what you mean by alot, but yes it does, just like every other piece of equipment with more use it wears down and a laptop, unless otherwise designed, is not meant for over use of that feature. Some laptops' pieces are the cheapiest and shadiest made in this section as the company tends to argue if your burning that much than your doing something illegal. It wont hurt the overall computer but replacing pieces in a laptop can be a headache.

No critical damage, DVD burner will where out a bit and if you are burning off of the hardrive it will most likely add a bit of damage to that. However I dont think you will have a problem if you keep the laptop on a desk so it stays cool when you do it.

No, not at all. The worst that could happen would be that your DVD drive would go on you, but that usually doesn't happen simply from burning things.

Not the laptop but the optical drive. It degrades the laser faster.

it could possibly make it slower, if you have a lot of DVDs downloaded to your computer, if not i dont see how it would hurt it, and if you do have a lot downloaded to your computer after you burn them you can always delete them. i cant think of any problem with it
