Of course it's not! You would use "Money" to help out another individual. Is that evil?
However, money can be used for evil things. (Murder for hire.)
Money is simply a tool. (Like a hammer!) You can either build a house with it or bang in someone's skull.

Although money today is basically made from paper and therefore trees, it is not the root. Even in the Bible their was the infamous 30 pieces of silver which refers to some questionably major evil as far as religion goes. And Religion has been around before bartering for goods. They are both symptoms of Evil. Evil is inherent in Mankind which is why those two things are so prevalent. Which came first the Chicken or the Egg? Interesting thoughts on this.

absolutely not. rather the lack of money is the root of all evil. anyone with lots of money can sit back and enjoy life. its those people who are working hard and need a new this or that and they are all stressed out and have no time, having no money, that is evil.

No it's not, what a STUPID question! (see I was just evil, and got no money for it at all!)
Although, it is said that "the LOVE of money is the root of all kinds of (different) evils." Does that make love is evil?
I didn't think so either.
(much love!)

No it is not. In fact I find this statement to be absolutely ludicrous. The only people who believe this are the ones who don't have any money!!
Money is simply a form of energy. It has no good or bad qualities. We can either attract it to or repel it away from our existence through our beliefs about it. If one believes it is evil, they won't have it. If one believes it doesn't grow on trees they won't get any. If one believes that life is abundant and limitless and and that money comes easily, it will.
The snag is, you actually have to BELIEVE it. This takes some practise. I have been doing affirmations everyday for the last few weeks and sure enough, more and more money is coming to me more and more frequently from multiple sources, both expected and unexpected.
My person affirmation is: "Great quantities of money come to me easily and frequently from multiple sources. I am abundantly wealthy in all areas of my life."
All I can say is that it's working for me!

Jealousy is the root of all evil.
It is in jealousy that the greed and lust for money surface. It is in the comparison between the self and others, do we see the world as being unfair. A jealous person is one to keep your distance from.
