With home pregnancy tests, you can get a false negative if you have not followed the instructions as so amount of urine on the stick and the correct time to do so, but as for a positive result, the way a pregnancy test works is a chemical reading of a hormone level. There will only be a positive result if the chemical comes in contact with pregnancy hormone, so no, there can not be a false reading. I hope you are ok and in a supporting situation, and remember that if you are having a baby, you will find you may be freaking out now, but in no time at all you will have fallen in love with the new life growing within you.. all the best

HPT are pretty easy to use nowadays and there is a very slim chance for messing it up but if you are worried that you are getting a false positive, try getting another one but a different brand. If you are still unsure about the results, the best thing you could do is visit your doctor and have them give you a pregnancy test.
Good Luck and I hope it works out the way you want it to.

The only times you can get a false positive is if you've had a baby in the last 6 mths...then you will still get a positive...other than that unless something is really wrong with you hormonally you can't get a false positive..there are many local places where you can get a free doctor's pregnancy test.. I suggest you check that out...

The only way you'll get a positive on a pregnancy test & not be pregnant is if you are on medications with hGh, which is what pregnancy test measures. A false positive is beyond rare. Take another test if it makes you feel better, but a positive is a positive.

Taken it wrong? Hard to do. Gotten a false positive, possible. Go to the health clinic or a clinic somewhere and get a real test before you panic.

Nope...it'll only say it's positive if it detects the pregnancy hormones. Aside from a rare medical condition that would cause a false positive - the test wouldn't be wrong.

A positive pregnancy test is usually correct. It is hard to get a false positive unless you are taking hormones and fertility medication.

I dont think so. It is more common to have a false negative than a positive. Good luck with that.

its possible to have a false positive but to get a positive theres a reason that some detected hgc in your urine.so if you got a positive you are probally pregnant.test again if your not sure if you get a positive next time you are probally pregnant.
