Richard Gere kissed a woman?! (Just kidding.)
I'm not sure what to say here. It is hard to show independence or an opinion in a country that doesn't honor it in the same way that the United States does.

You're right there needs to be major reform in the world as we know it. People hearts and minds need to be changed but this is almost next to impossible to do. For example, I live in Birmingham, Alabama and there are still racist people living from the times of segregation and the Civil Rights Movement. We just have to wait for a newer generation who will look at the bigger picture and change the world for the better and maybe that generation is upon us now or maybe they will be our children's children but either way we must still keep hope alive. I do understand what you're talking about and what you may be thinking, I think about this kind of stuff all of the time.

that is wrong. I understand that it is their country and we need to respect their culture and blah blah blah. BUT i don't respect a culture that it is ok to shot someone and run around with guns(showing hate) like they do it their country but if you kiss someone is public(showing love) you get jailed. That is just wrong. I don't think this is an issue about respecting their culture. Sometimes custom, beliefs, cultures whatever are wrong. (even some things in our country are wrong) and this is just wrong! i am sorry i have no respect for cultures like that. I don't think it is so much that you can't so public affection i think it is that you can run around with guns and shot people

It's a different culture than ours. Muslim culture does not allow PUBLIC displays of affection, possibly because that this considered imodest. However, it doesn't mean that there is no love or affection inside the home.

It isn't dumb. It is culture. I think Richard Gere has NO respect for her culture or the people. when you go to another country you follow THEIR laws and culture.

Imagine a country like that and imagine that we are totally dependant on that current for energy to run everything in our little country. Also imagine that they hate our guts.

It's what their beliefs are in their country and they're entitled to it. We, too, have certain beliefs and practices that cause people of other nations to shake their heads. We'll just have to respect it regardless of whether we agree with it or not.

It's crazy, he did nothing wrong.
If I was him, I'd say, I'm never coming back to your country.
I heard he was helping people, and this is what they do to him.
I'd stay away from those crazy countries. Why do anything for them.

Sorry, just cute how you repeated that particular phrase.
:)
It does seem silly to us, however that is why Americans are so often criticized - we judge other cultures based on our own.
Perhaps if we had grown up there, we would feel differently.
