I don't think you can draw conclusions from showing or not showing the President in the series. First, I'm not sure Matt Groening exerts that level of control (dictating which characters can appear) over the series. Second, the Simpsons had GHW Bush and then Gerald Ford move in next door to Homer in one episode, so they've had Republican ex-Presidents, at least. I would think it's more a matter of GWB not being funny.

If you look at what Matt Groening was doing before the Simpsons (the comic strip Life In Hell), you can get a good idea of his political views. One of the cartoons depicts a "tree of life" where Republicans are somewhere below "Slime Molds," as I recall.

Almost certainly. Most media is anti Bush if you watch closely, or at least anti conservative. Look at Prison Break, all the major conspiritors have been depicted as Conservatives. Same with 24, although not from the beginning, i think it took until season 3 to begin. Some shows DO tend to be apolitical, not supporting or degrading either side, but their are few, very few, who support a conservative line of thinking.

The Simpsons are meant as a satire and so is Bush meant as a satire of a president. So there is actually no need to put him in the show.

He's not necessarily anti-Bush, he's just a democrat.
