I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.
Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life

A simple trick to ending panic attacks is wanting to have one because the wanting causes an immediate diffusion of the anticipatory fear.
Can you have a panic attack in this very second?
No !
You know the saying “what you resist persists.” Well that saying applies perfectly to fear. If you resist a situation out of fear, the fear around that issue will persist.

If it only happened one time it is likely that it wont happen again unless something really bad happens, but if you have been suffering from anxiety attacks for a while its very likely that you may experience more attacks in the future. I suggest that you consult a doctor before something really bad happens.

Hi Fran, I've experienced them in Montreal some 20 yrs ago,and yes Fran there is hope mine are gone.I've been on several benzodiazepines...but what really helped was Paxil. Careful with benzos though they are addicting (Lorazepam,Diazepam) AND i only occasionally use them now.

Sweetie, I know how you feel. When our son committed suicide in 1997, I had
anxiety and panic attacks. It is the most horrible feeling. My Dr. put me on Paxil
and it made all the difference as it deals with both. Please get some help, I had
to because I couldn't stand the pain of never seeing our son again. Even after all
this time, I wait to hear from him. That's the Mom in me. God bless you. I hope
you get some peace. With the help of Jesus, we are making it through. : }

Yes, I do! I also have post traumatic stress disorder. I've been to the ER many times in the past but now I try to control them. I take Lorazepam daily for it. I've had them for 8 years now, the symptoms are still there but less severe. When they started, I thought I was going crazy. I was afraid of dying from a heart attack! It really is no fun and I hope you will be better! Good luck!!

It's called hyperventilation, and yes that happened to me over a year ago. (I went to the hospital too.) Now everything is fine unless I have a lot of caffeine.
