I'm in love with my straight friend. He's so freakin' adorable. However I think the most i can hope for with him is the ability to fool around. But when I think of him physically, I don't get aroused. I don't get repulsed either, it's just blank. I think I've fallen for him because of his character, and the manner in which we interact. Is it normal to be intimately aroused but not sexually? What's wrong with me?

PS
Whenever he is with a girl, it kinda hurts me inside. One night we were sharing a hotel room and he asked me to leave so that he could be alone with a girl, it hurt me so much that I started drinking. (I rarely drink). I did it so much he ended up having to take care of me. That made me feel worse.

It's okay to love someone without having sexual feelings for them. There are many different kinds of love.

There is nothing wrong with you.
You have feelings for your male friend and you have made the mistake of thinking they are physical.
No.
Its OK to have feelings, but there is no need to assume a physical relationship.
You simply enjoy him ....in a healthy way.

Oh ya i've definately had that. Part of mine was absolutely the personality (he even knew about me and was not only fine but interested in how it all was) but i think a little of the whole thing was that i couldn't have him (at least i never tried). But anyway, it is definately possible.

There are two parts to romantic love:

1. The need to be sexual with someone...
2. The need to love and be loved...

We run into many problems because we assume those two ideas are one in the same.
