Depend on worms. Earthworms eat dirt.. Some worm species eat apples, corns or other plants. Moreover, other worms eat rotten meat.

Smaller birds eat worms, insects, seeds, fruits and berries, spiders and grains, and small fish.

Larger birds eat eels, snakes, frogs, larger fish, fruits, berries and small mammals.

This should give you a rough idea hopefully.

Leaves and any other plant matter that is in the process of decaying, just about anything in your compost heap.

anything rotten ,or what is in your compost heap,
as long as it is humid and is decomposing
bones ,eggshells,paper,food scraps,rotten leaves ,poop ,etc.
worms do not eat dirt ,
they make compost ,the best in the world
