This past Dec. 31st, my friend's recently retired parents were both killed in a horrible auto accident--the car was crushed half-way through by a speeding pickup truck.

The perpetrator was drunk, driving with a suspended license (which was obtained using false papers), and is charged with vehicular homicide. He is an illegal alien from Mexico.

The latest I've heard is that the US might deport him back to mex without him doing any prison time here. The dude's only 24 yrs old--so what the fluck, he'll prolly sneak back here 1st chance he gets.

After seeing the protest on the news for allowing illegals easier access to the US, I AM TOTALLY P*SSED OFF and feel this tragedy should be heard by more ppl.

I understand that ppl want a better life and if they're here legally, fine. But a tap on the wrist for this accident is ridiculous. IF HE WASN'T Mexican, I'd still feel some sort of punishment is necessary.

mrb1017--You're right, if it's LEGAL, then FINE. But someone who sneaks in commits a crime as soon as he steps over the border. We all thought he'd do time. The case isn't closed yet.

I think that America really has a problem with immigration. A lot of Mexicans come here and have babies and then the baby is automatically a citizen because he/she was born here. I think we are the only country that does that. Most countries require your parents to be citizens for you to have citizenship. You're right...that's what America does. We ship them back to Mexico, no punishment. And he will come back the same way he did the first time. I don't think that America should give citizenship to any one that came here ILLEGALY. If they got papers to come here then I don't mind them being here, but if you snuck in then you need to sneak back.

Actually people are mixed about this. There is more than one point here about illegal immigrants. They do not provide tax money for the government so that sooner or later doesn't help us, but they do make money and use on US stuff eventually. Their children get to stay here and have education and taxpayers are angry, but what is wrong with trying to give your child a better future? They are not on file and can do all sorts of crimes and never be found out but that only applies to some illegal immigrants not all. They are not citizens how cant hey protest, but they are people too how can they be mistreated. See? These are some of the arguments. But people sympathize because if it was you or them you would want to go to a better living condition and have work to support your family. It all comes down to who you are, strict or passive, tax payer or non tax payer, U.S. citizen or non-citizen, etc. But we only care when an issue with illegal immigrants affect us, otherwise we usually don't mind much or care for that matter. But there is this argument:
They are doing what we did in 1776, trying to have a better life. Think about it.

It would seem to me that if they are here illegally they have no voice in how we run our country, have no right to protest and should either be arrested or sent back home. Seems pretty simple.
