Absolutley NOT! The Bill of Rights is just about perfect. Too bad we don't really stick to it anymore.

Bail is supposed to be set in many cases to ensure that a person shows up for trial. . .yet, we see extrodinarily high bails set in cases of non-violence crime, just to make headlines.

In many democratic countries, if you go to trial and are found NOT GUILTY the goverment must pay your lawyers. . .. we don't do that in this country. Because of this, many people plead guilty to a lesser charge because they cannot afford lawyers, and the legal aid groups and public defenders have been stripped horrifically for funds to mount a defense for many people.

Most prosecutors 'overcharge' when they bring charges against someone to make them buckle under the pressure. Many prosecutors only want a conviction and don't care if the person did the crime or not. . and plea bargains count as a conviction for the prosecutors record. Just look at what has recently transpired at Duke University . . .and then tell me that those young men were afforded the 'idea of innocent until proven guilty'!

And there are so many cases like this . . .everywhere!

IF the Justice Department was operating truly according to the Bill of Rights, and so were the state and local district attorney's we wouldn't have so many innocent people in prison.

Then think about the innocent people that have been freed from DEATH ROW by Barry Scheck and Peter Neufeld with the Innocence Project.

We are not scrutinizing our system of Justice on the Federal, State or Local level. People don't have the resources to hire top attorneys or mount effective defenses, and we have a higher percentage of our population in prison than almost any country on Earth!

We must get back to the basic principles that this country was founded on. . . .and insist that a person is INNOCENT until PROVEN GUILTY with a FAIR TRIAL!

Not at all: and were you ever accused of a crime, you would be happy for those protections.

How are the rights of the accused over-protected?

i am inbetween because when the guilty person does whatever they did wrong they are responsible for their actions and if an innocent person is accused then they are not responsible for that crime

Not in the least bit. It allows for effective defenses against arbitrary abuses of power.

If you don't like your rights, GTFO and move to North Korea.
