No! You should definitely take it! That way, once you get to high school you will be above everyone else, in an advanced math class. It's great for college. Don't wait. If you have the chance, you really should take it. Don't not take it just because you're scared. You should do fine. If not, you'll just take it again in high school. But the important thing is, when you apply for college, you will be able to say "I was in advanced math my freshman year", which is great. Colleges LOVE to see advanced students.
Hope this helps and good luck.

When I was in 7th grade I had Honors pre-Algebra, when I was in 8th grade I had honors Alegbra and when I was a freshman I had honors Algebra. All three courses were challenging but I still managed to get an A or A- every time. If you are in the top ten and have confidence in yourself I believe you should take the class. You will be a step ahead when you enter high school and will have more freedom when choosing your classes later on.

Go ahead and take the course. You will do fine. Just remember pay attention in class, take notes, do all the homework every day. If you do all this you will be doing more than most of the students in your class.
Also, you will have a jump on your high school math courses if you have already taken algebra 1.
You will be able to go into higher level math courses sooner.
Finally, if you are 10th out of 178 right now, you have demonstrated your ability to do the work.
OLIVIA, DO IT!!!!!!

Teaching is a way of learning. Don't be panic. You chose the chapter first in which you have total command and explain to the eight grade class pupil. Then you will get confidence. When you will get confidence, when you really posses the knowledge. Go ahead. All the best.

1. Talk to your seniors, those who have taken this class previously or your teachers to find out what the course is like and what is covered in this class. This will help you make an informed decision based on real facts rather than gut-feel.
2. In mathematics, as long as you keep up to date in class, continue with your homework, study and practice as you have to be in the top 10, I trust you will do just as well.
All the best.

I would take the class. I teach accelerated 8th grade and in my opinion it is easier than 8th grade. Algebra is very straight forward. And this way you can take calculus your senior year and not have to take it in college.

If you are doing it with a liking to teach do it now! But never underestimate job of a teacher! Your ability is needed and teaching skill is yet another ability which will come to you gradually!

No, you shouldn't. I think learning and challenging yourself is slightly more important than keeping your rank. Considering you've made it this far, you shouldn't worry about losing your place greatly.
