Thanks for all the answers everyone!! I really appreciate it. I went to look more into the chimney, and found there are two babies in there as well. Many of answered to call animal control, and choosing a best answer will be tough but all answers are appreciated. I did call animal control, and tomorrow someone will come to get them out safely. I didn't want to smoke them out because they wouldn't be able to esacpe and I didn't want to harm them. I was thinking of a trap, but one was tough and with three in there that will be too tough. Thanks once again, and a best answer will be chose soon.

After calling animal control a second time, they told me to just put a radio on by the bottom of the chimney and let the raccoons leave on their own. It's been a day since the radio has been on and playing, so I'm guessing that they should leave soon. I did read that it is illegal to relocate animals, so I decided to ask for an alternative and heard the radio idea works most of the times. Hopefully it works out well, and the raccoons leave with no trouble. As soon as they leave, I will put a wire around to stop things like this in the future. Thanks for further answers!

I doubt that the raccoon is stuck in the chimney. I have a vacant house next door to me and every evening around dusk Mom pops out of the chimney and goes about her business. Unless you desperately need the fireplace let nature take its course and wait for the family to leave. When they have gone cap the chimney.

If the safety of the raccoons is a problem, you make like to ask your company what the policy is on the release of captured animals. I am pretty sure that here in Ohio relocation is illegal and captured animals are destroyed.

Yep no problem, light a fire then throw on a few green brush for some smoke they will go quickly. if you do not have a fireplace, then go behind your boiler fined the access door to the chimney and put a radio inside turn it up real loud. Once they go you have to get some wire mesh and wrap it up so they don't return. Remember that the raccoon is part of the bear family and if cornered they Will give you everything they got! Good Luck

Can I make a suggestion- the raccoon most likely got in to have its babies. the problems will be they will want out! the babies will not be able to get out the way the mother did so they will figure out how to get the flap( flue) open and be in your home. After animal control removes the raccoons you NEED to call someone and make sure the TOP of the chimmey is covered so you do NOT get more racoons or other animals in it again.

Try lowering food on a string attached to broom stick ,wait till he grabs the food and try to pull him up maybe a big piece of apple with a string poked trough , I heard that once they grab hold of food they tend not to let go, maybe a myth but worth a try , the only other thing is to lasso him, are call animal control and see if they can bring a real long one of those sticks with a loop on the end. Do not barbacue the racoon FREE Rocky the Racoon as for you answerers who said lite a fire I am ashamed of you may a wild herd of Racoons knock over your garbage cans every night for a Month

Easy.

You've just got to put a monkey up the chimbley to get the 'coon down.

If the monkey doesn't come back, you put a hill-dog up to get the raccoon, and a cheap goat up to get the monkey.

If none of them come back you probably have a chimminy party going, and you'll want to call the police in this case.

Send the police up and then take it from there - maybe shout at them, or light the fire a little and shout "I'm gonna light a fire undah yore ess", whatever...

Raccoons can be carrying rabies.Unless you are a seasoned expert,I strongly suggest that you contact your local municipality. In most cases, they will remove them for free and release them back into the wild. Also, you may want to install a fire screen on top of your chimney. This will prevent any further intrusions.Good Luck.

I would call animal control if that won't work, i would wrap one
end of a long pole to prevent injury to animal and push him up and out or push him down if you do this have a large box or
something to contain him in until you can get him out side and
turned loose. after all he is just a little animal most likely looking for food

He must not have anything to grip to climb back up and out so you are going to need to get him to come out through the house. Get some sardines and put them in a live trap that sits at the fireplace opening in the house.

There has to be a wild animal rescue in your area. Call your local animal shelter and ask to be referred to the proper group. Don't try to get it out yourself, you will be bitten. You do need to have it rescued promptly before it starves.

If he got in, he'll get out, light a chip off a firelog and smoke him out...he'll climb back out the chimney.
