OK. Are you talking about physical or virtual memory?
If it is physical, get the correct memory from the manufacturer or plug the model and make into the memory configurator at Kingston.com or crucial.com
If it's virtual memory you can do this in the OS by increasing the swap in *nix or from the advanced area of you computer properties depending on which Windows version you are using.
If you don't know which, take it in to a shop. Memory upgrades are quick and painless, but you shouldn't mess with it if you're not familiar. A little static electricity will destroy RAM and can cause intermittent issues later that you might blame on something else and ugh... the horror... the horror...

Doesn't matter how much RAM you have if you overload it. Several things you can try:
- set wallpaper and screensaver to blank or none
- check start menu and load only that which you need every day
- run Disk Cleanup, Scandisk, defrag
How is is now?
There is a freeware called Windirstat which will give you a picture of computer usage:

WinDirStat
visual drive space manager
Our Rating: (Excellent)
WinDirStat is a visual drive space manager that uses treemaps to represent each file as a colored rectangle, allowing you to instantly visualize file distribution across an entire drive or folder. In addition, the file types are color coded and can be clicked to reveal file name and details with options to access via Windows Explorer, copy the path, or to delete the file. The concept is very similar to SequoiaView, however it provides additional folder tree access and an easier to use interface, as well as right-click integration via SendTo menu.

Hi, it's likely that you have GOT 568MB but you could HAVE 2GB. To find out for sure what you have got, go to Start > Run and type DXDIAG - this will give specific details of your system and what you are running.
To increase RAM you would need to buy it to fit your particular computer/ laptop and have it fitted. Ebay is cheapest.

Since you posted in the laptop category, I'm presuming a laptop. Laptops typically have two slots for SODIMM type RAM. You might currently have 2modules of 256Mb or 1module of 512Mb.
If you want to go straight to 2 Gb, just buy 2 modules of 1Gb each. Just make sure it is of the same type as the one currently installed.

You can turn up your ram speed by going into the BIOS at startup. If you have Quality ram it can do it.

568 is a strange number, no matter how one add/subtract video memory.
Anyway
to add more memory, you simply check the manual to see what memory type it takes, then add then
