Have you ever realized (Bear with me here)? You know how when a movie's dubbed in english, they're just trying to make it so the audience understands what they're saying. But when they dub asian movies, the actors always speak accented English. It just doesn't make sense, because dubbing's supposed to be just a direct translation, not making it so the actor is speaking english in actuality. It's not like the actors are speaking accented Korean, so why do they speak accented English?? That's just a pet peeve i guess.

They probably dubbed the voices oversees, and they couldn't hire native English speakers who speak English perfectly (Quite hard to find in some countries).
Or maybe they couldn't decide what accent of English they should use, like British, Australian, or American. So they just use an Asian accent to be fair to all English nationalities.
I prefer just reading subtitles.

Maybe the first voice-overs for Asian movies were made by non-native English speakers, and it became a tradition, so many people expect to hear Asian accents when they watch an Asian movie. It's kind of silly, I guess.
I will say, it would do Americans a lot of good to hear more *real* foreign accents, and to be more accepting of them. People complain when they hear a foreign accent that they can't understand what is being said.
But if the accents in the voice overs are fake, that's really stupid. I agree that subtitles are probably the best bet. (-: Although those can be really strange, too.

They probably use a certain group of people when they dub in English. Do They have unions ? I don't mean China, 'cause it's communist, but maybe in Thailand and some of the other places here they produce movies. I always get a kick 'cause nobodies' mouth ever moves right in dubbed films. I notice they use a lot of English accents. Even the ones who're trying to sound "American".

I never noticed that! It seems almost all of them have horribly overacted dubs, too. That's why I prefer subtitles. It takes a while to get used to, but they rock!

Never noticed, because I watch all films in their original language. Dubbing is distracting and degrading.

OMG!!! me too....i cant stand even listening to those rather than watching the whole movie! My thoery is that the producers or translaters are too cheap to get better people that other people can ACTUALLY inderstand. LOL...but i totally agree
