Just treat him as a casual friend this time.Whether he thought askin him out was a joke, if he really likes to go out with you then he would not hesitate, but i guess he is not interested at all thinking of it as a joke was just an alibi. Don't rule your heart over your head coz he is not worth your care and love. Find true love elsewhere.

Well when was the last time you asked him out? If it was a while ago and you really like him, then become better friends with him first, let him get to know you better, and if he shows interest in you then ask him out agian!Try to let him know that its not a joke. If you just asked him out recently wait a while and become closer with him, then try again. If he says no the second time then he's not worth it!

The problem with young relations is that everyone covers up what they really think and feel. As you get older and more confident in yourself you become more comfortable saying what you really want and feel.
Try this. "hey" why don't we get together some night to see if there is any real chemsitry here because I am thinking there is. What are u doin friday"?

Have you tried to ask him again and this time tell him, I am not joking I am serious about our going out together. If he says no, then you know that the feelings are not reciprocated.

i think it was rude of him to think it was a joke on how
you felt. no one feelings are a joke. and i think you
should not pursway him anymore. but that is just my
opinion. there are many other men out there in the
