The easiest way is to buy a PCI USB Card and install it.

Also if you are using a hub on any of the USB ports the problem is usually caused by too many devices trying to communicate with the computer at the same time pulling too much power and causing the USB ports to stop working.

Don't understand - losing power?
Too many things plugged in and loaded at one time?
We need more information.

I have learned this - theoretically, we should be able to plug and unplug USB devices - but it doesn't work that way - at least not on my PC. If I do not go through "safely remove hardware" when unplugging a flashdrive, the PC will not recognize the next device (unless I replug the item I removed and go through "safely remove").

Buy a new USB hub for your PCI slot.....they have them at Best Buy and Fry's electronics for like 4 bucks....this will add 4 or 6 new USB slots to your system and is guaranteed to be fully powered.

You could also buy a non-pci slot, powered USB splitter but these cost a little more than the PCI USB adaptors. :)

your puter does not have enough power to run all the usb ports,, the fastest and easiest way is to get a powered usb adapter/extender! these have their own power so you won't over load the puter..
