I noticed yesterday that she had a spot of hair that was longer and when I pulled at that I noticed that it was torn and not attached to the skin. I called the vet and he said she had probable just cut it on something so I didnt think much about it and then I noticed today that there is another spot to. When you look at these spot all you see is pure meat.

It's hard to say from your description.

1.) If you have another rabbit in with the rabbit, it most likely is from the rabbit you have in with it.

2.) There's a chance it could be something like bot fly where a fly laid eggs on the fur and now the fly larvae would be buried underneath the rabbit's hide. You would see a hole in the hide that the larvae uses to breathe. Bot fly is something you normally see on younger rabbits that are 5 months or less old. This is because the bot fly normally lays eggs on them when they are in the nest box. This usually happens because the person accidentally allowed a dead baby to remain in the nestbox too long and the stench drew the bot fly which laid eggs on the babies in the nest box. As the babies grow up they develop one or two bumps normally on the top of their back or side. These are the larvae of the fly growing underneath the pelt.

3.) It could also possibly be an abscess where it has possibly popped.

4.) If there is a sharp obeject in the pen, your rabbit possibly could have cut itself, but that is rather unlikely.

I would take your rabbit to the vet to let your vet look at the spots in person. It would be hard for the vet to tell over the phone. My best guess would be that it's one of the first two scenarios I mentioned. Make sure your vet considers the possibility of bot fly. It's not common in cats or dogs so the vet may have to look it up.

she may have mites, lice or fleas. take her to the vet, a cream or flea bath of sorts might solve the problem.

touch your rabbit on the spots, how does she react? does she appear to be in pain? if so, get to the vet ASAP.

also, look around and feel around the inside of the cage, to see if there are any sharp spots. also, feel the edges and corners of her toys.

good luck!

Has your rabbit been in contact with a male? she could be nesting, rabbits pull out thier fur to line their nests, their fur is so soft, I wouldn't mind having some to sleep in! My sister has a rabbit and she has never come in contact with a male, but she looses hair and digs holes, sometimes you can see the hole is lined with her fur. I wouldn't worry too much, but it probably is a good idea to ask your vet again, if it is a reocurring problem.

She might have some kind of infection of mites. My rabbit had something similar, but she ended up having worms around her anal region. Take your rabbit to the vet, they should have a shot for that if it is mites or an infection.
