Hey AC: There's so many to choose from:

In the richest country ever on earth, some people go to bed hungry and don't have a decent place to live.
In the most technologically advanced country on earth, some people can't get decent medical help.
In one of the most highly educated countries in the world, people are still interested in what Britney Spears or Justin Timberlake are doing with their lives, who's going to win on American Idol, and buy Dan Brown books.
In the most open society in the world, there's hatred and bigotry and racism and xenophobia.
In the most egalitarian society in the world, some people make enough money in a year to house and clothe and feed a small town, and others make minimum wage.
In one of the most faith-based countries in the world, people despair over their lives, babies are ruthlessly aborted every day, people go to church twice a year (if that), and gunplay is still tolerated and, in some circles, encouraged.
In one of the most law-abiding countries in the world, murder is commonplace.
In a peace-loving country, we are the biggest warmonger and arms supplier to the world.
With the best form of government in the world, we are stuck with crappy politicians who can raise the most money to get elected.
In one of the more health-conscious countries in the world, we lead the world in obesity, hyper-tension, heart disease, lung cancer, and thousands die every day due to smoking cigarettes.

This may be the best country in the world, but we have enough tragedies to write a book about.
