The beans would be a good source of fiber for them (and you as well!). Goldfish are a species that tend to suffer from constipation, and fresh veggies like beans, peas, romaine lettuce, squash, cucumbers, and others will help prevent constipation. Goldfish will eat almost anything, but they way their digestive system works, they need to have a lot of plant material in their diet.

Garlic is used as a home remedy to treat/prevent parasites.

The garlic is a parasite preventer,big-time fish breeders use it all the time. Beans? I don't know, but beans are not that different from peas and they are recommended as a laxative for fish that will eat them. I think your friend is doing OK. Why would you think this would be bad for the fish?

Beans are a no no. English peas with skin off is good once a week. Garlic no. It is too strong for the fish.
Gold fish food has what they need. Blood worms once a wk is good.

garlic has beneficial properties such as an antifungal and antibacterial. It has many other properties and thats why there are garlic supplements given to people. I don't really know about the beans though. Maybe they contain fats and proteins as compared to feeding them meats(sometimes contain diseases).
