I have a 3-way light bulb (50-100-150 watts), the kind that you'd use in a table lamp. I need to replace the bulb in my ceiling light fixture. If I screw the 3-way bulb into the ceiling light, will the bulb burn at 50, 100, or 150 watts?

(I told you it was a dumb Question)

Only the high level element will burn. You have two elements in a 50/100/150 a 50Wattt and a 100Watt. Only the 100 will work in a standard socket.

I've had to use one of those before in a ceiling light (ran out of bulbs), & it was really bright. I'm assuming it'll burn at 150 watts.

It will work, however depending on the bulb usually it will only work on the brightest setting in a standard lamp socket.

No Stewie it won't unless your ceiling fan is made for three way bulbs

Just remember that it takes three Italians to screw in a light bulb.
