cloth and grass rope are more giving than hemp, so they make better macrame. Hemp is fine for small scale macrame, like for making necklaces, bracelets, etc.

Depends on what state you are in. Hemp in some states is considered canibis and will get you arrested!

Yes but it does tangle easy so if doing a project that requires a considerable length and many strands you might want to use a coated nylon rope instead! lol I can't believe I know something serious about this one! lol
