well for 50% of 24, you do not even need to use the calculator for because it is just half of 24. If you really need to use the calcualtor, 50% is the same as .50 or .5 so you would do (24 x .5) Move the decimal over two places from the % sign and then multiply it by the other number. I hope this helps you out.

50% is the fraction 50/100, which simplifies to 1/2 (divide both top and bottom through by 50). 1/2 is equal to 0.5 (if you think about it, one divided into 2 equal parts is 0.5).
Remembering that in maths, 'of' means multiply:
50% of 24 = 50/100 x 24 = 1/2 x 24 = 24/2 = 12
If you are looking for a generic way to work any percentage like this, for y% of z, then the formula is
y/100 * z
e.g. 20% of 40 (where y=20,z=40):
= 20/100 * 40
=8
hope this helps

Do you have a percentage key on the calculator; if would seem so by your question
enter 24, enter multiply (x key or * key), enter 50, enter percent key or %, press equal. The answer should appear as 12, since 12 is 1/2 of 24 or 50% of 24.
If you don't have a percent key, change the percent to a decimal (.5) enter 24, *, .5, =. should be 12.
Good luck

A general method for any percentage of any number...
24 x 50 / 100 =
(remembering that % means 'out of 100')
On some calculators,
24 x 50 % =
will work.
For 25% of 36, same method.
36 x 25 / 100
