Ravens and crows are related but different species.
They are both species within the genus Corvus
I live in Connecticut and there no ravens where I live.
I sometimes see ravens when I go up to New Hampshire and in the mountain areas.
In the winter a small number of ravens move down from the north. I sometimes see them in hilly and mountains areas.
Ravens are larger than crows. They tend to live in mountain regions. Their tails are shaped different. Ravens soar like hawks on windy days.
You can easily tell the difference by their voice. A crow's call is the familiar "Caw, "Caw"
A raven is much deeper it sounds very hoarse.
Here is some more info from Wikipedia:
Common Ravens are highly omnivorous and opportunistic, and have a diet that may vary widely by location, season and serendipity. In some places they are mainly scavengers. They will feed on carrion. Plant food includes cereal grains, berries and fruit. They prey on invertebrates, amphibians, reptiles, small mammals and birds

Apart from its greater size, the Raven differs from its cousins the crows by having a larger and heavier beak and wedge-shaped tail.
