Several roundworms can infect dogs. Some of the main ones are heartworms that can clog up the heart and block bloodflow (carried by mosquitoes), Toxocara (ascarids) which can live in various parts of the body and which generally take nutrients from the dog's digestive system, and hookworms which feed directly on the dog's blood and leave the dog anemic and without energy.
