Guardianship of my children was given to my mother with no service to me. I found out months later. There was no investigation of me or notice of anything. She told police officers that nothing was filed in the courts just the day after she did file the papers. I am a military wife and so have had to move from the area she is in. This all happened in Stanislaus County California and I am now in Colorado. The accusations she made were false then and are still false now. Can anyone help me?

My mother kept them during the week and they were always home with me on the weekends to make it easier on them for school. She just disappeared with them. And the military will only help with filling out paperwork that is it. I have been looking for work but unless I find a job paying 60k a year or more after they take the child support she is getting I still wont have money left for attorney.

Most areas have legal services free to people who cannot afford an attorney. Sounds like you made a mistake leaving your kids with your mother. What is your excuse for that? Seems like you need to find a job to pay to get your kids back.

The state bar has a toll free number and can advise you of legal aid societies in the area your kids are in.

Try contacting the Califonia Bar, www.calbar.org, or Martindale-Hubbel (a lawyer research website) www.martindale.com.

I do not practice California law, but might there be a chance your mother's actions in obtaining the guardianship violated the Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act? JAG officers can give you specifics on that Act. Whoever you find to help you may be able to use it.

if the military base can not help you, you can call your local court house and see if they have a number for an organization that helps women in your situation

Call your local legal aid society or call your city's American Bar Association. Tell them your story, and they should be able to help you.
