It seems moss likes hard clay surfaces. Baking soda will kill moss overnight. If you have it on rocks, baking soda can do you no wrong. I am thinking about dumping on vinyl siding to see if it will kill mold spores. Everyone and everysite says only solutions containing bleach really work. (on M. spores)

well, there is a $10 problem i can fix for you, you got $10, youn can fix it, go to the store, get 3 gallons of bleach, now you will need a pump sprayer, from any garden store, there about 6-7 $, one gallon bleach, one gallon water, mix into the sprayer, and spray the moss heavy, this will kill the moss, and for the roof, do the same, but be rerally carefull when on your roof, the bleach makes the roof slick, when dooing the roof, i will say, have someone around that can hold your ladder, and or call for help if you fall, but if you do this on your own, be carefull please. MOLD IS DANGEROUS TO SOME DEGREE, BUT IF IT IS MOLD YOU NEED TO REMOVE IT WITH A BLEACH /WATER SOLUTION AND SCRUB IT GOOD WITH A STIFF BRUSH(NOT METAL WIRE) AND WEAR A DUST MASK. ARE THESE WOODEN STEPS? IF IT IS MOSS(LOOKS GREEN) JUST SCRAPE IT OFF AND KEEP THE STEPS DRY.

Mild bleach solution and a mold remover you can get at the grocery.

pressure washer gets right off with out all the nasty chemical bleach and water also is a good solution
