if you are over using your detergents this can create spots.
but if they look like bleach spots, then either someone I pour some bleach in machine but didn't use it and you did.
since bleach is liquid you didn't see it on the top.

Spots left on clothing after wash cycle:
If you are using powder (sometimes liquids can cause this also) detergent or powder color safe bleach, the problem may lie in how you are washing your clothing. First set your machine: perma press, delicate, ect. Then start the cycle, as the tub fills add your detergent, once the detergent has become solute in the water add your clothes. Before you dry the items check to ensure the detergents/ bleach are completely rinsed. Also check to make sure that you are not using too much detergent, and/ or color safe bleach.

If you are using liquid fabric softener, that could cause the stains. If you don't have an automatic softener dispenser, then swith to dryer sheets. Also, don't overlaod your washer, if the chlothes aren't able to move around freely, you may not be getting them clean, which could also result in spots. Good Luck!
