I have a project due wed 5/1 and I cant find the answer! AHHH! anyone plz help me out i need a gas exchange for Euglena and paramecium

Since Euglenids are unicellular, they probably use diffusion for gas exchange like all other unicellular organisms. They do this because the 02/CO2 only has to cross one membrane layer to get into the cell and it would take much less energy to allow the gases to pass through the plasma membrane than to have an ATP-using organ to take them in.

Euglena and paramecium both exchange gases by diffusion. It's easy for them because they are one-celled and they live in the water. Oxygen diffuses through a membrane best when the membrane is moist. That's why the inside of our lungs is moist and why a dry earthworm dies.
